last week at tech we did cooking and we made sweet corn fritters. thay were kind of like making pancakes because we had to flip them the same as pancakes. Thay took us a long time to make them but it was worth it. we started off making the batter, we needed eggs, salt, sugar, and flower
I found this activity interesting because I got told learnt how to make sweet corn fritters at home
Wednesday we celebrated Duffy’s 30th Birth Day Party. at the Party we had some specil guests from Duffy co, Mainfreight, and ma a kalani.
our guests told us about what books thay read when thay were younger like Mr Smith (Mainfreigth guest)was telling us about when he was young how he used to read Donald duck comic books and from reading not only did it make his brain smarter but also his voice impression of Donald duck which we found cool.
today we made catapults out of newspaper, tape, and ruber bands. These catapults were launching small dice acros the room on our first try it went the complet opisit way it was ment to go then we got one more shot then it happened it launched it went the right way this time the dice was flying to the wall were it bounsd back and came all the way back
I found this activity fun because I got to shoot and aim the catapult.

in this DLO
LI: To make connections (self, text, world)
LI: To identify the main ideas – negotiation game
LI: To make inferences about the events in the text using the clues provided by the author.
LI: To practise skimming and scanning by looking for key words in the text when answering questions
Our guided reading text was ‘poros of malia’. We worked collaboratively as a group to unpack the text and answer questions using evidence from the text to support our thinking. All our responses were written in the comments tool.
Something I found interesting about this text was how he was anxious because he was the champion and if he lost he would get whipped in front of everyone and people will laugh at his statue.
LI: to explore the language features of a persuasive text.
This term we have been learning about persuasive writing to help us get ready for the school speech competition later in this term. Persuasive writing is used when you want to make others think like you. Yesterday we were looking closely at the language features used in a persuasive text. I have chosen to share the persuasive language feature of emotive language.
